Where We Left Off:

On Guster’s Adoptiversary, he faced off against a much larger animal that was not in the mood to fight him.

Election:

Easter weekend brought beautiful weather which Gus and the humans enjoyed. What they didn’t enjoy was Lord Theodore hauling many flatbeds of human junk onto the mountain. What was once my personal playground for hiking, nature exploring, and walking with my cats—Lucky, Lady, and now Gus—has become a hill of rusted metal that’s not safe for animals. The animals and I have been concerned about this area for years. The last case file about it was in October 2022 when the turkeys held a political caucus.

Photos from Past Years

Okay, small animals like voles and chipmunks will be able to nest inside junk like this. Larger animals that try to step onto a rusted car body will find themselves plummeting through with leg injuries, panic, and a shitload of trauma.

Before these people moved in, it was routine for the old folks who lived there for 50 years to throw certain things they deemed “garbage” into a crevasse. That was bad enough. There’s a crevasse full of broken glass up there on rocks that could only be crossed by an experienced rock climber or advanced hiker. Gus and I often found artifacts and would bring them home to research their history with Oliver.

An impassable ditch (especially for disabled old people) with some broken glass or ceramics is nothing compared to what is happening now!

Since Sunday, it’s been raining. Gus and I haven’t gotten the chance to venture out (or trespass even a little). The Grumpy Old Man did his best to try and calm me down the other day.

“We don’t have to see it,” he said referring to the fact that the environmental disaster is technically over our property line.

Pushback from the Wildlife:

It’s obvious the animals are having to go through adjustments. It is Spring, and generally, they get more active. There haven’t been any sightings of the bears since fall. The bobcats haven’t passed by the trail cameras since February which was their mating season.

Campaign Season in Bunny Hollow:

Mayor Shirley Bunnie Foy has been in office since the election in August of 2022. It was briefly mentioned in a case file in September of 2022 regarding a contagion passed through the white-tailed deer population. That year, Bunnie Foy defeated Lola Bunny. Now, the incumbent is facing a dark horse challenger, someone no one expected to come into the spotlight—Gary the Raccoon!

Gary is the husband of Little King Trashmouth. They are part of the three that have a bonded family unit with Big Baby Pudding-snatcher. El Diablo is a muscle-bound loner who has begun chasing some of the rabbits when they leave the confines of Bunny Hollow. This kind of vigilante justice is misplaced. It’s the reason Gary Trashmouth has decided to run for mayor. Gary knows the fault lies with the humans. Even when the extreme weather conditions blow garbage around that’s climate change and still the fault of humans. It might be humans over centuries, but it’s humans who think they can treat the planet exactly like these people on the top of the hill.

The election for Bunny Hollow mayor was last held August 16, 2022. Animals, having their owning inner sense of time, may choose a different date. Gus and Oliver will keep their senses tuned into the grapevine for news on this development to see if Gary Trashmouth can oust incumbent Shirley Bunnie Foy.

Case Findings:

Environmentalism is a top priority for the critters of the neighborhood and they are bringing those concerns to their polling places. Mayor Shirley Bunnie Foy has done her best in supporting the Winchester-Nabu Detective Agency staff who wanted to preserve this little hill of rocks and trees. Unfortunately, no one could stop the private sale of the land and to polluters.

We’ll keep you informed of the Bunny Hollow Mayoral race and any other news.
